The Company

As part of their continued investment in the Home category, they are seeking an experienced Head of Buying to shape category strategy, lead a high-performing buying function and drive profitable growth across a significant area of the business.
The Role
Reporting into the Commercial Director, you will be responsible for developing and delivering the long-term commercial strategy for the Home category. Leading a sizeable buying team, you will balance customer insight, commercial performance and market trends to create compelling product ranges that strengthen market position and deliver sustainable growth.
Key responsibilities include:
• Developing and executing the category buying strategy aligned with wider business objectives.
• Leading, coaching and developing a high-performing buying team.
• Building strategic partnerships with UK and international suppliers to deliver innovation, value and competitive advantage.
• Driving range architecture, product selection, pricing and promotional strategies.
• Managing category budgets, sales, margin and stock performance to achieve commercial targets.
• Using customer insight, market analysis and competitor activity to inform decision making.
• Working closely with Merchandising, Product Development, Supply Chain, Marketing and Digital teams to deliver integrated category plans.
• Identifying opportunities to improve processes, ways of working and commercial performance across the buying function.
About You
You’ll be an experienced senior buying leader with a proven track record of delivering commercial growth within a customer-focused retail environment.
You’ll also bring:
• Significant experience leading buying teams within retail.
• Strong strategic and commercial decision-making capability.
• A track record of delivering sales, margin and market share growth.
• Experience developing supplier relationships and negotiating at a senior level.
• Excellent leadership skills with the ability to inspire and develop high-performing teams.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data and customer insight into commercial decisions.
• Experience working cross-functionally within a fast-paced, multi-channel retail business.
