What is high potential coaching?

High Potential Coaching takes individuals who demonstrate the skills and attributes needed to become leaders of the future and arms them with the tools to fulfil their potential.


You may be looking to prepare someone for a future promotion, or to fast-track their professional development, or simply to retain them within your organisation. In a safe and supportive space, our 1-2-1 coaching improves the self-development of high potential individuals, facilitating personal and professional growth.

How do you coach a high potential employee?

Coaching an individual with high potential is not simply about giving advice, it is about listening and asking carefully curated questions which challenge their current thoughts, feelings or behaviours, and help support their personal and professional development.

Self-learning is at the heart of our approach. We work within a framework that helps people achieve the self-awareness and adaptability that empowers them to make better decisions, improve communication and enjoy stronger working relationships.

Individuals will quickly begin to believe they have the capability, resourcefulness and potential to maximise their own performance.

What makes a person high potential?

People who are considered as having high potential are capable of strong levels of self-control. They are able to regulate their behaviour, especially in stressful or difficult situations, and continue to communicate effectively while influencing and motivating those around them.

Most high potential people are earmarked as future business leaders. Coaching creates an environment that supports their growth by forming strategies that help unlock their potential for personal and professional improvement.

What does the high potential coaching process involve at AGP?

We begin with a complimentary discovery session prior to any coaching, to explore how you and your coach might work together.
Our programmes are flexible, however we suggest a minimum of four sessions is then required to put you firmly on the path to sustained self-improvement.

A session normally lasts for two hours. We think of the process in terms of a two-way conversation during which our coach will ask powerful questions and challenge current thinking, feelings or behaviours in a safe and confidential space.

Our carefully curated questions help you self-identify your own solutions, so you instinctively know the actions you need to take to improve your performance.

Flexibility is key and our coaches will make themselves available to ensure clients achieve their desired goals, in their given timeframes.
