What makes a great Retail Director?
The best Retail Directors have a solid grounding in the operational side of the business, usually in a store environment or on the ground in travel, leisure or hospitality.
They will have stepped outside of retail operations into another cross-functional area such as trading or supply chain to make them a more rounded individual with a keen grasp of key head office functions.
They need to be great communicators with the ability to talk upwards to the CEO as well as being an effective leader of their team.
Increasingly, they must also understand ecommerce and the interplay between different channels, recognising that the end consumer only sees one brand whether online or in-store.
