The Opportunity
AGP are searching on behalf of a major 3PL business to appoint a Technology Director who will play a pivotal role in one of the largest technology transformation programmes in the sector.
This is a rare opportunity to shape the future technology landscape of a nationally critical food logistics operation. The business is making significant investment into its distribution network, including the development of new automated distribution centres, modernising legacy warehouse technology and building a scalable platform capable of supporting future growth.
Working as part of the senior leadership team, you’ll bridge the gap between technology and operations, ensuring technology strategy delivers tangible operational improvements across warehousing, automation and supply chain execution.
The Role
As Technology Director, you will define and deliver the technology roadmap for a large-scale logistics operation, balancing business-as-usual service delivery with long-term transformation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and delivering the technology strategy across warehouse, logistics and operational systems
- Leading a significant warehouse technology modernisation programme
- Supporting the rollout of new distribution centres and automation capability
- Driving improvements across Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Transport Management Systems (TMS), automation and operational technology
- Working closely with operational leadership to ensure technology investments improve service, resilience and efficiency
- Influencing senior stakeholders across both logistics and retail functions
- Managing strategic technology suppliers, system integrators and delivery partners
- Leading, coaching and developing the team of technology professionals, creating a high-performing capability fit for future growth
- Ensuring technology governance, cybersecurity and operational resilience remain at the forefront of delivery
About You
We’re looking for an experienced technology leader who understands complex logistics operations and can build credibility with both technical and operational stakeholders.
You’ll ideally bring:
- Senior technology leadership experience within food logistics, grocery supply chain or large-scale distribution environments
- Strong knowledge of warehouse technology, automation and operational systems
- Experience delivering large transformation programmes involving warehouse modernisation or automation
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to communicate complex technology concepts to non-technical operational leaders
- A track record of leading and developing sizeable technology teams
- Commercial awareness, with experience balancing operational priorities alongside long-term strategic investment
- Experience working within large, matrix organisations where collaboration and influence are critical to success
