Company Overview
A leading, complex UK organisation is embarking on a significant technology transformation agenda, with a clear focus on simplifying its technology landscape, modernising its infrastructure and creating a more scalable platform for future growth.
This is a high-profile opportunity to join the technology leadership team and shape the organisation’s future architecture strategy across a large and evolving technology estate.
The Role
As Director of Enterprise & Business Architecture, you will provide strategic leadership across enterprise and business architecture, helping to define and deliver the organisation’s future technology direction.
You will work closely with senior technology and business stakeholders to simplify complex end-to-end processes, modernise legacy environments and establish a clear architecture strategy that supports the organisation’s longer-term ambitions.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Own and develop the enterprise architecture strategy, ensuring it is aligned to the wider business and technology agenda.
- Lead a significant modernisation agenda, identifying opportunities to simplify, rationalise and transform the existing technology landscape.
- Define the organisation’s future infrastructure and technology strategy, ensuring it is scalable, resilient and capable of supporting future requirements.
- Provide architectural leadership across complex, interconnected technology environments and drive greater standardisation and simplification.
- Work across business and technology functions to understand end-to-end journeys, removing unnecessary complexity and creating more efficient ways of working.
- Establish clear architectural principles, standards and roadmaps to support investment and transformation decisions.
- Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders, influencing technology and business leadership on major strategic decisions.
- Lead and develop a high-performing architecture function, creating greater consistency and capability across enterprise, business and technology architecture.
About You
We are looking for an experienced technology leader who has operated within a large, complex and highly interconnected organisation and has a strong track record of leading architecture and transformation agendas.
You will ideally bring:
- Significant experience leading Enterprise Architecture, Business Architecture and/or Technology Architecture at Director or equivalent level.
- Strong experience working across complex technology and infrastructure estates, with a clear understanding of modernisation and transformation.
- Proven experience developing and implementing a future-state infrastructure and technology strategy.
- A track record of simplifying complex technology environments and reducing technical and organisational complexity.
- Strong understanding of end-to-end business processes and operating models, with the ability to connect architecture decisions to business outcomes.
- Experience operating across a broad technology landscape rather than within a single technology domain.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the credibility to influence CIO, CTO and wider executive-level stakeholders.
- Experience leading and developing sizeable architecture teams and creating a consistent architecture framework across an organisation.
- A pragmatic approach to architecture, with the ability to balance long-term strategic thinking with practical delivery.
- Experience of working through significant technology transformation, modernisation or change programmes.
Why This Role?
This is an opportunity to take ownership of a significant architecture agenda within a complex organisation, helping to shape how technology evolves over the coming years.
The successful individual will have genuine influence over the future technology estate, infrastructure strategy and architectural direction, while playing a key role in simplifying how the organisation operates end-to-end.
