What makes a great Director of Facilities?
A successful Director of Facilities will ensure the smooth and efficient running of all aspects of a facility’s operations. They will be responsible for creating and managing budgets across multiple facilities, all associated planning and building system maintenance.
They will have previous experience in senior-level management roles, with a minimum of 3 years’ facility management or general management experience. Strong candidates will have high-level understanding of the processes used to manage a facility, bringing a level-headed, organised and communicative presence to the role.
They must be able to communicate effectively with stakeholders, contractors and external providers to establish contracts, negotiate payment and manage scheduling.
As they will be responsible for the safety and security of everyone in the facility, they will have an extensive understanding of laws, regulations and safety stipulations, ensuring that all processes are compliant with building and safety regulations.
